By now we’ve all heard about social distancing, a phrase none of us even thought about before our current situation, but even though we are alone…we are still together.

No, I’m not getting philosophical on you (don’t worry!), I am just saying that it is important to focus on the fact that we are all in this together.  So, even though we may be isolated physically, we are not alone mentally, emotionally, and psychologically.

The #alonetogether has been trending as a way to help stop the spread of the COVID-19 Coronavirus, because even if you aren’t sick you should still stay home (if you can).  Young people are especially important for this because they may carry the virus and not show any symptoms, which can lead to them easily passing it on to someone who isn’t quite as lucky.

Radio is more than just a set of numbers on a dial or a frequency because great local radio is what brings our community together and holds us together through challenging times just like these.  You may be working from home, but you are not alone. We are with you and we are the companion that you can always count on. 

Local radio is still as strong today as it ever was because it is still the most genuine and authentic way for us to come together on a local level, and accomplish anything as a team, as a community, a family.

Don’t Forget About Your Own Mental Health

There is an old saying that you cannot love someone else until you love yourself.  I’m paraphrasing, but the message is true.  It also holds true for socializing and finding new ways to connect with people. 

If you aren’t taking care of your own mental health and staying strong emotionally, then it will be much harder to engage and focus on making the most of socializing remotely.  It’s easy to focus on the negative news headlines, but do you know what is even easier? Turning off the TV.  

Ask Alexa to play your favorite radio station, meditate or read, do something to calm your mind.  That’s actually the first of a few key tips that will help your mental health in stressful times.

  5. Take advantage of resources to help you through this
