Captain’s Log: Day 27

It is Tuesday… I think. The whole “what day is it?” has been kind of a running joke (albeit a bit sad and true) for nearly a month. But…it is Tuesday. And WHAT A FINE TUESDAY IT IS.

What about this Tuesday is special? Well, it is a Top 10 Day, friends. 85 and sunny and I don’t know about you, but when the world feels heavy, I find myself taking a step back, a deep breath, and relishing the simple things.

Today’s Simple Thing? We actually had two.
1.) Cut homework time down for everyone’s sanity. Who has time to argue with a kindergartener on a day like today?!
2.) Throw down a picnic blanket, kick off the shoes, and have lunch with the kids outside. The fresh air and sunshine and heavy dose of Vitamin D does something for my brain and body. Almost like magic, I find myself a happier person, a more patient mom.

While laying in the yard on the picnic blanket, my 5 year old said, “It’s a nice day to have a breeze on our feet.”

I’d never thought of it like that before, but I will from here on out.

These days, we take the wins we can.
The sunshine. The 85 degrees. The breeze on our feet. The afternoons without arguments about rhymes. They’re all wins.

I hope you’re taking the simple wins, too, and get to feel the breeze on your feet. It really is nice.
