Have you been noticing more colorful lights up in the neighborhood or photos of people’s Christmas trees and stockings on social media? It’s not even Thanksgiving yet, but lots of folks are already decking the halls this year. And according to a new survey, that’s because they’re part of a portion of people who like to decorate long before Thanksgiving.

A new survey from YouGov asked more than 27-hundred adults in the U.S. who celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah or Kwanzaa about their ideal time to put up holiday decorations. In the before Thanksgiving group, we have 27%, while 69% say they prefer waiting until after turkey day to drag out their decorations. The most popular times to decorate include the day after Thanksgiving (25%) and before December (24%), so the majority of people will have their decorations up before November ends.

Even in December, you might not see giant inflatable reindeer or other winter wonderland accents in your neighbors’ lawns since only 42% of those surveyed say they decorate their yards and the exterior of their houses. But if you peek inside you may get a glimpse of their decked out living room because 70% decorate the interior of their home.
