Disabled veteran Chuck Wood has been confined to his Sacramento, California home for the last few years because he couldn’t get his wheelchair over his doorway onto his porch. But thanks to a team of volunteers, he’s outside in the fresh air and loving it.

Richard Randall, president of the Veterans of All Wars Motorcycle Riders, found out about Wood’s situation and set the wheels in motion to help him out. “He’d been stuck in his house for the last two-and-a-half years,” Randall explains. Members of his group not only showed up to build the ramp for the retired Coast Guardsman, they gave him a new wheelchair, too!

Wood says, “I’m great now because I can get out and go around, talk to people and yeah, it feels great!”
