Nikki and Laura

  • Hi! We’re Nikki & Laura. We’d like to invite you to grab some coffee and start your morning with us weekdays from 6-10am on Sweet 98.5.

Each day we go over the latest in pop culture, the ways that celebrities are just like us (they sometimes cut their own bangs!), the ways celebrities are not like us (they sometimes cut their own bangs in their million-dollar mansions!), play some games, over-share about our lives, and sing “Lucky” by Britney Spears.

Share a laugh with us every weekday morning on your radio, Sweet985.com, your smart speaker (Hey Alexa, play Sweet Ninety-Eight Five!), and with the free Sweet 98.5 mobile app.

  • Nikki

Nikki grew up listening to Sweet 98.5 (it was a staple on her bus route), recording songs off the radio onto cassettes so she could pretend she was a real-life DJ. Being a part of this heritage station is a total dream come true.

When she’s not asking her daughter 47 times to pick up her room, trading Knock Knock jokes with her son, or dancing with the kids to Panic! At The Disco and Taylor Swift, she’s running, painting everything in her house she can get a brush on, quoting her kids on Twitter, and singing far too loudly at concerts.

  • Hey! Here are the things that I’m really into right now while staying home:

    • Music – Any Panic! At the Disco live footage I can get my eyes and ears on. One of my favorite acts to see live and…well…since that’s not happening anytime soon, footage from past shows is second best.
    • Book – Peaceful Parent, Happy Kids by Dr. Laura Markham. I picked this up a year ago and thought this extra (and trying) time we are all spending together is probably a good time to do a deep dive into the parenting book.
  • Laura

Originally from the Twin Cities area, Laura arrived in Omaha as a Creighton University student pursuing degrees in Computer Science and Communication Studies. She has always had a passion for music and pop culture, which sparked her interest in radio.

When not in the studio or sleeping, Laura can be found taking pictures of her cat, listening to podcasts about The Bachelor franchise, or working out. She enjoys attending concerts, obsessing over female pop stars, and memes. Laura once danced with Taylor Swift’s mom.

  • Hi! Here are the things that I’m really into right now while staying home:

    • Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Dedicated Side B” – Carly Rae Jepsen may be my favorite artist of all time. She makes incredible pop music and it never fails to put me in a good mood. Carly writes like, 200 songs for each album and only picks 15 to make the final tracklist. So for the past two albums, Emotion and Dedicated, she has released a “Side B”, which has songs that didn’t make the final cut.
    • Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – I have said this a few times to people when talking about this video game on the Nintendo Switch: Breath of the Wild may be my favorite piece of media that I have ever consumed (books, music, TV, movies included). The world you explore in the game as you fill out the story is so vast and detailed that I played this every night for an hour over the course of 4 months and still didn’t finish. I’m currently on my second play-through. This game is three years old and sometimes I’m still shocked that something so perfect exists.
